We were delighted to have a full house for our Nowell and Nowell concert and consequently we not only had the joy of singing together to such a lovely and loyal audience in the wonderful setting of St Marys; but with the proceeds were able to support a Wirksworth-wide project to provide Christmas gifts, seasonal foods and vouchers for needy families – an extremely worthy cause ...

to which we were delighted to

donate our ticket sales.  Having fun and raising funds for good local causes makes singing

such a joy and we hope to continue this for many years to come...

Raise Your Voices hosted a very special workshop in Wirksworth Town Hall on Sunday October 22nd.

Led by an experienced and innovative choir leader and voice coach,  Anna Tabbush, who kindly stepped in as our original leader Carolyn Robson, has had to cancel due to a close and sudden bereavement, BUT music runs in the family genes and her daughter Anna Tabbush stepped up to grasp the baton and everyone left the session as more confident and skilled singers than when they arrived, having had lots of fun learning mostly her own compositions.  See her website here -  she is multi talented and dynamic with loads of experience and energy and tips galore to share!

We were so lucky to have her step in at such short notice!

STREET CHOIR EVENT

7th June 2023 Kirk Ireton

As part of the 2023 Kirk Ireton Wakes Week events, the village hosted a musical Street Choir Evening on Wed 7th June.

We had a fabulous evening thanks to the terrific planning and hospitality of the Kirk Iretonians and we squeezed into their lovely little church with a full house audience and really raised the rafters!

The Kirk Ireton Singers and eight more local amateur choirs - including Raise Your Voices, joined by the Bakewell and District Community Choir, both lead by musical director Lester Simpson - performed a wide range of music at four locations around their lovely village between 7 and 9.15 pm.

Their aim was to fill the village with beautiful sounds, to entertain and to enthuse Kirk Iretoners and the audience about singing. and we hope we helped them achieve that!
