Raise Your Voices cancelled a one-off session of
“Carols in the Churchyard" at St Mary’s Wirksworth on Wed 23rd December
"It’s with a heavy heart that I email to say I’ve decided to call off tomorrow’s carol singing for the following reasons
The weather forecast is for rain for the period we would have been singing.Covid infection rates have doubled
in the last measured week.
We now have a new strain of Covid which is estimated to be 70% more transmissible.
From a personal point of view we have two vulnerable family members who will be sharing our Christmas bubble and I don’t want to risk any infection reaching them.
Sorry to be the bearer of tidings that aren’t glad, I realise how much we were all looking forward to a good sing together but I think I have made the correct decision.

Raise Your Voices was delighted to be invited to
submit a piece for the Virtual Festival 2020.
While Covid restrictions prevented us from meeting to
sing together in person we have been keeping in touch
by meeting for Zoom sessions and our community choir
roots stay strong.
The film shows us at work rest and play and we hope
the joy we find from singing will shine through as you
listen to our songs and watch us in the montages made
of many happy memories. We are most grateful to all
involved in the production: Alec Millward, Phil Richards,
Rob Gill, Rusty Ahearne and Lester Simpson and of course,
the choir!!!.

Fundraising 2020
RYV's musical director Lester Simpson presenting our donation of £1000 to Liz Greaves the Derby Branch Chair of Parkinson's UK. This was raised at the RYV December concert in Wirksworth, when we were joined in our performance by members of the Movers and Shakers, the Derby Parkinson' choir which Lester also leads. Thank you to everyone who supported us in raising these valuable funds.
