Raise Your Voices
a community choir in Wirksworth, Derbyshire
Our 2026 choir sessions began again on January 15th with our popular guest leader Sarah Matthews who keeps us singing through the dark days of winter while our own leader Lester enjoys his annual holiday in the sun!
RYV is a community mixed choir in Wirksworth, formed in April 2009, purely for the joy of singing! We ring the changes from a selection of genres, mostly in four part harmony, offering a warm welcome to all, when good craic and camaraderie abounds!
We love to learn new songs but we also have many a soft spot for the tried and tested old favourites we fish out for fun!!.

Feb/March, Lester was back and after a month or so of singing purely for the joy of singing, and now it's April and we are busy enjoying rehearsing for our unique concert as part of the 2026 Belper 250 celebrations.
"The River Runs" is a musical tribute to Jedediah Strutt and the mills which made Belper famous. The performance is a combination of elements from some of Lester's previous musical projects; a millennium CD celebrating Belper’s history, commissioned by Belper Town Council, and music composed for two short films for Milford’s ‘Maypole Promotions’.
